‘Before Darkness’ to vie at Light of the World

Iranian short flick ‘Before Darkness’ has made its way to the International Youth Film Festival "Light of the World” in Russia.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Before Darkness’ will compete in the Russian event next month.

Written and directed by Mosayyeb Hanaee, the film is based on a true story.

It is about a woman who has crossed into Iran along with other Afghans as they want to illegally travel to Turkey.

The woman, who is accompanied by her child, can’t take her child with her as she can’t afford the smuggling fees.

The film’s cast includes Shahbanou Mohammadi, Iraj Tadayyon, Reza Ahmadi, and Narges Hezareh.

‘Before Darkness’ was awarded at the 35th Tehran International Short Film Festival in Iran.

The 11th edition of the Light of the World will take place on May 12-15.
